Terms of use

Last updated: 2026-09-25

1. Purpose

These terms of use govern access to and use of the Expansel service by any account holder (the "member"). Paid plans are also governed by the terms of sale. By creating an account, you accept these terms.

2. The service

Expansel monitors the availability and certificates of websites, checks the presence and attributes of inbound links (backlinks), crawls websites to detect broken links, and tracks domain names. It sends email alerts and keeps a history, depending on your plan. Public tools are also available without an account.

Checks are made by automated requests, from our servers or from verification machines we operate.

3. Account

  • An account is personal. You provide a valid email address, which you confirm.
  • You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for the activity of your account. Tell us without delay about any unauthorised use.
  • The service is intended for people aged 16 or over.

4. Plans and limits

Each plan sets limits (number of sites, backlinks, crawled pages, check frequency…) and features, described on the pricing page and in the "Plan & limits" screen of your account. Beyond a limit, an addition is refused; nothing extra is charged. The free plan does not expire but may change.

5. Acceptable use

You agree to:

  • only monitor or crawl sites and pages you are entitled to have checked (your own, your clients', or public pages carrying your links);
  • not use the service to overload, attack or test the security of a system without authorisation, or to circumvent a protection;
  • not use the crawl pacing settings against a site you do not own;
  • not resell the service or make it available to third parties beyond what your plan allows;
  • comply with the law, in particular data protection law.

You alone are responsible for the targets you declare and for how you use the results.

6. Availability

We make our best efforts to provide a continuous service and checks at your plan's frequency, without any guarantee of availability or timing. An alert may be delayed or missed (network outage, blocking by the checked site, maintenance). Expansel does not replace your own critical backup and monitoring systems.

7. Your data

The data you enter (sites, backlinks, settings) and the check results belong to you. We process them only to provide the service, as described in the privacy policy. You can export them at any time from your account and delete them with your account.

8. Intellectual property

The service, its code, interface and content remain our property. You have a personal, non-exclusive and non-transferable right of use for the life of your account.

9. Liability

For a business member, our liability is limited to direct and foreseeable damage, and capped at the amounts paid for the service in the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to it; indirect damage (loss of revenue, customers or rankings) is excluded. For a consumer member, these limitations apply only to the extent permitted by law, and their statutory rights remain.

10. Suspension and deletion

  • You can delete your account at any time from your account area. Deletion is permanent; a running subscription is then stopped, with no refund of the period started (see the terms of sale).
  • We may suspend an account that breaches these terms, after an unheeded warning, or immediately in case of serious harm or emergency (attack, unlawful use).

11. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms. A substantial change is announced to you by email at least thirty days before it takes effect; if you refuse it, you can delete your account or cancel your subscription before that date. The version in force is dated at the top of the page.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by French law; the French version prevails. A consumer member keeps the protection of the mandatory rules of their country of residence. Contact: contact@expansel.com.
