A website ages without anyone noticing

A page gets renamed, an article deleted, a partner shuts down. Every small change leaves behind a link that leads nowhere. After two years a fifty-page site often carries thirty of them: invisible from the homepage, very visible to the visitor who lands on one.

What the crawl finds

Your pages in error

Every reachable internal page is visited. Those answering 404, 410 or 500 are listed, along with the page the link was followed from.

Your dead outbound links

Links leaving your site are tested too. A link to a site that closed two years ago hurts the experience and the credibility of the page carrying it.

Pages a robot can't read

Some pages block automated clients or only exist once JavaScript has run. They are reported separately rather than counted as errors: a wrong number would be worse than no number.

Frequently asked questions

How many pages get crawled?

Fifty on the free plan, two thousand on Pro, up to fifty thousand on Business. The limit is deliberate: it protects your server as much as ours.

Could the crawl slow my site down?

Requests are spaced out and the page count is capped by your plan. A crawl looks like an attentive reader visiting, not an attack.

How often should I crawl a site?

Once a month is enough for a stable site. After a redesign or a migration, run one straight away: that is when broken links appear in numbers.
